We checked into the airport in Darwin and the clerk said, "Stone, B & D" to which Bill answered, "No, Stone, B & A". We thought no more about it until we got to Cairns and our luggage went to Bamaga with Stone, B & D. Well, ¼ of it anyway. It's too bad that when we ran into our first bit of trouble, we also ran into our first snippy Aussie. Not only was she snippy but also she let us know how stupid we were for putting our passports in our carry-on luggage (that Ansett wouldn't let us carry on). She also told us how stupid we were to not have checked our luggage check tickets to make sure all our stuff was going the same place we were. (A later check of luggage receipts revealed that a layperson couldn't read the destination of the baggage.)

While Bill called the airlines, I made a trip to the motel guest laundry. Now Aussie Jan needn't worry, all the underwear is clean. <G> The airline told Bill not to worry they would have our bag to us by 3pm this afternoon.

Before we left the states we carefully made copies of all our documents, all tickets, vouchers, passports, etc. We placed them in one carry on and the actual documents in the other. The cases were specially purchased to fit under the seats as carry-ons. That way we had two copies of everything with us at all times. As the trip progressed, I consolidated things and both sets ended up in the same bag. Guess which bag that happened to be. It looks like we'll miss the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow. <G>

We did have our itinerary and it contained an emergency number for Goway, our travel agent. We called, got someone's voice mail and explained that we had no idea who our tours were with and that our vouchers were in our missing bag. We needed to know who to call to find out about tomorrow's Great Barrier Reef cruise.

We walked over to the Acacia Hotel for their seafood buffet and while Bill stood in line for a table, I went over to talk to the lady at the tour desk. What a doll!!! A couple of quick phone calls and she had found our Great Barrier Reef tour with the Quicksilver Co. It was not tomorrow but the next day. That meant we still had to find tomorrow's tour. She then gave us the phone number for checking on our Kuranda trip and info on when to call them.
